A SHORT HISTORY THE BEGINNING

EKITI BAPTIST HIGH SCHOOL OLD STUDENTS' ASSOCIATION (EBHSOSA)- IGEDE EKITI

The Ekiti Baptist High School Old Students’ Association is a not-for-profit organization, formally established on Saturday, 4ht April, 1969 at the School Campus by a few Old Students who graduated from the Ekiti Baptist Boys High School, EBBHS (now Ekiti Baptist High School, EBHS) between 1961 and 1965. At its inauguration, interim officers were elected to run the Association until the First Annual General Meeting was held two years after. In 2012, the Association was formally registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), making it a corporate entity.

OBJECTIVE
The objective of the Founding Members amongst others, was(is) to create a forum for a reunion among graduates fromthe school, like any other secondary schools in Nigeria. Aside from this, it is to provide an avenue to galvanize support for the school, to give back, in recognition of the role played by the school in positively shaping the lives of its members.

GROWTH
By leaps and bounds, the Association, has grown like the “Mustard Seed” with a Membership strength of over five thousand (5,000).

CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SCHOOL
As one of the three stakeholders in Education- the Ministry of Education, Alumni Associations, and
the Parents/Teachers Association, (PTA), the Ekiti Baptist High School Old Students Association, ni
essence, is a force to be reckoned with as a partner-in-progress with the Ekiti State Government in givingquality education. Many infrastructures put in place in the school were either undertaken by the National Body, Sets or individuals and include but not limited to:

• Erection of the perimeter fence of the school land
• Repair and renovation of the principal’s residence/office, the Vice Principals’ residences, the School Examination Hall, the school library, the Boys’ and Girls’ hostels, the school Chapel
• Erection of a beautiful Entrance Gate
• Construction of modern Restrooms (toilets) at different locations in the school campus
• Drilling of Boreholes
• Construction of a modern health care facility equipped with medications. Erection of Solar Energy Street lights within the school.
• Donation of an 18-seater Bus
• Donation of computers and stationeries such as photocopiers
• Cash donations on the Annual Prize Giving Day Provisionof mowers
• Donation of textbooks for JSS 1-3 and Reference Library. Provision of Musical Instruments
• Erection of the Silver Jubilee Hall (Alumni Hall) Renovation of Girls’ Hostel (Block 1)

And many more

Aside from the highlighted physical developments, Old Students have at one time or the other served as Chairman of the Board of Governors of the School while many other taught int h e school or given career talks to the students.

SCHOOL ANTHEM
The School Anthem being sung by the school was composed by an old student. This has stood the test of time because of its relevance in public outings by the school.

OWNERSHIP OF THE SCHOOL
The Association is desirous that the school is returned to the original owners, the Nigerian Baptist Convention, like any other Christian denominational schools already approved/granted. The Association believes that whenever this happens, the growth and development of the School will accelerate in a more sustainable way. In the meantime, the Association has inaugurated the One Billion Naira Endowment Fund in 2022, with a view to reposition the school.

CONCLUSION
The Association is ever prepared to see to the development of the school, bearing in mind the school motto
“Pro Christo et Humanitate” (For Christ and Humanity).
